The YMCA offers a variety of fitness challenges and workshops to help keep you motivated while you strive to meet your fitness goals.
Participating in our fitness challenges will help you create goals, increase accountability, and build relationships with others on this journey.
Our fitness workshops are designed to help you improve form, technique, or increase performance in specific areas.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE. At the Y, no one is denied service due to the inability to pay. Funds for Financial Assistance are provided through the YMCA’s Annual Giving Campaign. Learn more here!
If you are pre-qualified for Financial Assistance, please note that some of our programs have minimum fees in order to cover costs of materials and supplies. This fee may be higher depending on your amount of assistance.

Spartan Training
Spartan training for both the Spartan Races and as a general fitness approach emphasizes functional fitness, building endurance, strength and agility through a variety of exercises and obstacle course training. It’s a holistic approach to fitness that prepares individuals for both physical and mental challenges. This 6 week course will help you build confidence to take on the Boise Spartan Races coming in August of 2025.
Mark Richins is a CrossFit Leve 3 Coach, SGX-L2, Spartan Obstacle Lead Instructor, and has completed over 100 Spartan races with multiple podium finishes in distances from Sprint to Ultra.

The Why, What & How of Meditation
Curious about starting—or restarting—a meditation practice? This 90-minute workshop explores the “why, what, and how” of meditation, helping you connect your personal values to a practice that supports your life. You’ll learn the basics, experience a guided meditation, and leave with a realistic plan to bring mindfulness into your daily routine. Whether you’re brand new or returning to practice, this workshop offers clarity, encouragement, and practical tools to make meditation part of your everyday.
