- Focus on accountability, coachability, and strong work ethic
- Continued emphasis on sportsmanship, integrity, and team values
- Opportunities for future growth in competitive and school-level sports
While this program brings a new level of intensity, it remains rooted in what makes the Y special: a commitment to nurturing the whole athlete—spirit, mind, and body. We’re proud to provide a place where young athletes can strive for excellence, support one another, and represent their community with pride.
We’re incredibly excited for the future of YMCA Competitive Basketball and the opportunities it provides for our youth. If you have any questions or are interested in getting involved, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for supporting youth development and competitive excellence at the Y!
Team Formation
- Teams are capped at 10 players and fill fast on a first come, first serve basis. We highly encourage early registration to ensure that your player is able to play.
- Player and coach requests are not guaranteed but we will do our best to honor all requests
- Coach requests are honored until a team has 10 players.
- Player requests can be for only one player
- Player requests must have both players request each other
Game Information
- All teams will play 10 games
- Game schedules will be published by the end of the first week of practice
- We do our best to not have teams play back to back. While this may happen, we try to limit the amount of times for each team.
- There will be a single elimination tournament at the end of the season.
Practice Information
- YMCA Youth Sports Leadership will work with schools to solidify practice locations, days and times. The volunteer coach of your player’s team will choose from what practice options are available. Practices will be located at a school or Y facility that is nearest where they team is located. In divisions that are smaller, teams may be made from multiple schools, so practices may be a little further from where you are located.
- Teams practice for 1.5 hours, twice a week for a total of 3 hours.
The YMCA does NOT provide coaches for this program. All coaches are volunteers. Coaches are provided resources and training as needed and we are happy to support all coaches in any way possible. In this case we ask that parents of those teams work to identify a coach for the team.
Coaching & Volunteering
All coaches are unpaid volunteers who give their time to improve the lives of players and help develop skills in basketball and the art of teamwork and effort. Coaches are subject to a background check and are selected based on past coaching history and experience working with youth. No contact information is released until a background check is complete. Safety is a commitment we make to the families in the program.

Y-Ball Elevate 8th Grade
Y-Ball Elevate Basketball Program, developed for youth athletes who are ready for the next level of play. This program goes beyond our traditional recreational leagues, offering a more competitive and skill-focused experience—while staying true to the YMCA’s mission and core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility.
In this program, athletes are challenged to grow not only as basketball players but as teammates, leaders, and individuals. Through higher-intensity practices, more advanced coaching, and elevated competition—including tournament play—players will develop deeper knowledge of the game and refine their skills in a team-focused environment.
Program Features Include:
- New, high-quality uniforms to reflect the elevated nature of the program
- Focus on accountability, coachability, and strong work ethic
- Continued emphasis on sportsmanship, integrity, and team values
- Opportunities for future growth in competitive and school-level sports
