Recreational Swim Team
Our recreational swim team is great for a new swimmer who wants to try a swim team or a more experienced swimmer who is looking for a less competitive option. This recreational swim team helps kids learn competitive swimming skills. Participants will work with coaches on all four competitive strokes, dive starts, and turns.
Requirement: Ages 5-8 must be able to swim 25 yards of Freestyle and Backstroke. Ages 8–12 must be able to swim 50 yards freestyle and backstroke. Ages 13+ must swim 50 yards freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke, and 25 yards butterfly.
There are no try-outs for the team, but any participant who is unable to perform the mentioned requirements may be asked to switch to our lesson program until they are prepared for the swim team, at which time they can later join.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE. At the Y, no one is denied service due to the inability to pay. Funds for Financial Assistance are provided through the YMCA’s Annual Giving Campaign. Learn more here!
If you are pre-qualified for Financial Assistance, please note that some of our programs have minimum fees in order to cover costs of materials and supplies. This fee may be higher depending on your amount of assistance.

Blue Marlins | Beginner
The Blue Marlins are a recreational swim team with an emphasis on stroke development and aerobic exercise. Participants will continue their growth as a swimmer by increasing their endurance through age/skill appropriate workouts in a fun environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
Passed a level 4 in swim lessons OR Beginner swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards Freestyle and Backstroke
While we do not require a try-out for the team, it is up to the coaches discretion to suggest lessons for any participant who may need additional stroke development.

Swim Fit - Intermediate Adult Swim
This adult program (ages 18+) is for adults who are looking to increase their technical swim skills and endurance. The coaches will provide workouts and technique based feedback on how to improve your strokes to be more a more competitive swimmer. This program is excellent for adults who are training for triathlons, ex-competitive swimmers looking to get back into the pool, and anyone who knows the competitive strokes and wants to incorporate swimming into their workout routine.
Prerequisites:
- Must be able to swim AT LEAST 100 yards of crawl stroke
