AquAbility at the Y

AquAbility at the Y supports people with diverse abilities through programs that increase independence, ability, confidence, health, and well-being. Participants will create individualized goals. Some goals include, but are not limited to, physical and cognitive goals, communication skills, large and small motor skills, motor planning, motor sequencing, confidence, independence, and water safety skills.

These 30-minute private therapeutic aquatic sessions happen once per week.

AquAbility at the Y can be an approved program for Family Directed Services (FDS).

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE. At the Y, no one is denied service due to the inability to pay. Funds for Financial Assistance are provided through the YMCA’s Annual Giving Campaign. Learn more here!

If you are pre-qualified for Financial Assistance, please note that some of our programs have minimum fees in order to cover costs of materials and supplies. This fee may be higher depending on your amount of assistance.

AquAbility Swim Meet

Branch: Caldwell YMCA, Downtown Boise YMCA, Tomlinson South Meridian YMCA, West Boise YMCA & Boise City Aquatics Center

We will be hosting our next AquAbility swim meet at the Tomlinson South Meridian YMCA ( 5155 S Hillsdale Ave, Meridian, ID 83642 )

This meet gives participants the opportunity to show off their hard work, meet other swimmers, and compete against their own times. We will have instructors in the water and on deck to assist as needed. All existing and past participants are welcome and EVERYONE can do it! If you haven’t participated the past, I highly recommend it, it is one of my favorite Y events!

Anyone is also welcome to come watch/cheer on participants. Please Note: anyone over the age of 18 must have their photo ID to enter the building!

Below are the events we will be running on this day. You can ask your instructors for their recommendations if you are unsure which events would be the best fit. (Pick 1-4 events per participant. You can also duplicate events, when available)

25 yd. Freestyle

25 yd. Backstroke

25 yd. Breaststroke

25 yd. Butterfly

25 yd. equipment (noodle, kickboard, float belt, etc.)

50 yd. Freestyle

50 yd. Backstroke

50 yd. Breaststroke

50 yd. Butterfly

100yd. Freestyle

(25 yd. = one length of the pool : 50 yd. = two lengths of the pool : 100yd.= four lengths of the pool)
