Sports for Littles (3-6 years)
The Y offers a number of programs for little ones that want to try new sports and activities. YMCA programs nurture the potential of pre-k and kindergarten age kids by emphasizing fun, skills development, sportsmanship, and healthy competition. With many affordable early-learning sports and recreation programs such as basketball, soccer, t-ball, and more, children have the chance to try various activities without long-term commitment or expense.
Please note that programs for kids age 3 are only available at the Caldwell Y.

If you are pre-qualified for Financial Assistance, please note that some of our programs have minimum fees in order to cover costs of materials and supplies. This fee may be higher depending on your amount of assistance.

Rookies Football (Ages 4-6)
Players will have the opportunity to learn and practice the skills of football in a welcoming and unique environment. In an encouraging and fun environment players will explore the fundamental skills of football including passing, catching, football stances, route running, defensive strategies, offensive plays, and much more! Our football camp is a non-contact program, as we use flags instead of tackling. Football camp provides an opportunity for players of all levels to experience the great American sport of football. Campers are required to bring a refillable water bottle and may wear cleats, but they are not required as long as they have athletic-type shoes.

The rookies soccer program is designed as a first experience for players to the sport of soccer. They will learn the basic skills of soccer by doing different fun and exciting games and drills. Our caring and enthusiastic staff are excited to see you and your player soon.
A change coming for all rookies programs beginning in 2023: parent/guardian participation is strongly encouraged on the field in order to give players the best experience possible. We have a new curriculum that enables parents and players to work together to learn key skills and techniques under the direction of our staff.
AGES/GRADES:
- Pre-K/Kindergarten, ages 4-6 years
- If your player is a Kindergartner who is ready to play on a team, we highly suggest checking out our soccer league! We have a U6 division where players will practice once per week with a volunteer coach and will play one game per week against other teams.
