Life Skills
Gaining independence helps individuals fulfill and accomplish their dreams. In our Life Skills classes, participants learn important skills such as money management, discover employment opportunities, and many other tools necessary for independent living. Our step-by-step cooking class teaches kitchen and food prep safety while producing healthy meals.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE. At the Y, no one is denied service due to the inability to pay. Funds for Financial Assistance are provided through the YMCA’s Annual Giving Campaign. Learn more here!
If you are pre-qualified for Financial Assistance, please note that some of our programs have minimum fees in order to cover costs of materials and supplies. This fee may be higher depending on your amount of assistance.

THRIVE Adult Cooking Class
(18+) Come join us for the chance to bring about your culinary skills! Participants will learn basic kitchen skills while also whipping up easy to make meals. Staff will assist participants with kitchen gadgets, learning basic nutrition, safe food and knife handling, and proper cleaning. Once the meal is completed, participants are encouraged to enjoy their creation while making friends.
